Issues

Soo’s Priorities

Every student deserves an education that prepares them for the future. Soo’s positions on these issues come from over 13 years on the board and more than 30 years working with students and families.

College and Career Readiness

Soo supports high expectations and more pathways to college, careers and skilled trades. Her more than 30 years in college preparation shape how she evaluates academic programs.

Safety in Schools

As board president in 2018, Soo presided over the board when it placed Measure BB on the ballot, and voters approved it that November. The bond pays for campus gates and security camera systems across the district. She continues to prioritize secure, well-maintained campuses for students and staff.

Arts, Sports and Screen Time

Soo supports sports, music and the arts as core parts of a balanced education. She also supports reducing excessive device use by offering students healthy alternatives that build creativity, physical activity and connection with others.

Responsible Budgeting

Soo weighs each budget decision against student needs and the district’s long-term obligations, including investments in programs and facilities.

Working With Parents

Soo treats parents as essential partners. She listens to their concerns, encourages them to take part in their children’s schools, and works with teachers, staff and students to solve problems.
